Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requires covered employers to protect employees from job loss in the event of a qualified medical emergency and family reasons. This unpaid leave of absence can be used for reasons such as: personal or family illness, pregnancy, adoption, foster care placement of a child, family military leave, and other eligible circumstances – including getting treatment for addiction.
The FMLA was created to allow people to balance work and life needs. The Family and Medical Leave Act allows all eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave during a 12 month period so they may address medical and family concerns.
There are certain requirements to determine eligibility, so it’s best to check with your employer to see if you qualify for the FMLA or call us at 1-855-894-6399.
